The short version

Red Letter Live has no accounts, no tracking pixels, no analytics, no advertising, and no database of people. It processes live speech for one purpose: finding the Bible passages being spoken so it can display them.

What is processed, and where it goes

Microphone audio. When you go live with the high-accuracy engine, audio streams to AssemblyAI for real-time transcription under the operator's own API key and AssemblyAI's privacy terms. With the high-accuracy toggle off, speech recognition happens in your browser (where supported) and audio does not pass through this app's server.
Transcript snippets. Short windows of transcribed text may be sent to Gloo AI (if configured) to resolve paraphrased references, and to this app's own server to detect and verify passages.
Verse lookups. Bible text is fetched from the YouVersion Platform API and, if configured, Tyndale (NLT) and Crossway (ESV) APIs.
Session logs. A deployment writes local log files (transcribed text, detected references, timing) on the operator's own machine, for debugging and quality review. They stay on that machine, are excluded from the public repository, and can be disabled or deleted by the operator at any time.
Browser storage. Your translation and language preferences are kept in your own browser's localStorage. No cookies are set by the app itself.

Who is responsible

Red Letter Live is self-hosted software. The person or church operating a deployment is the data controller for that deployment — including microphone consent, log retention, and the third-party services they enable. The software's author receives none of the data from your deployment.

Children

The software is a projection tool for congregations and study groups; it collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
